Who Am I?

Hi! Thank you for stopping by and reading my blog. It is a dream come true, and I am excited to share my stories with you! I am Stacy, and I am a wife, caregiver, daughter, stepmother, aunt, fitness enthusiast, and travel junkie.

I am a wife. On New Year’s Eve 2019 in front of family and friends, I married one amazing man. He is my workout partner, my travel companion, and my rock. He is a 767 Captain for a major airline. He won over not only my heart but the hearts of my family. I love watching him with Gram and our youngest niece and nephew. We work hard every day to strengthen our relationship in mind, body, and soul.

I was a caregiver for my grandmother who had dementia. I took care of her from February 2016 until February 2021 when she passed away at the age of 97 a little over five years after my grandfather passed. She was such a strong and inspiring lady. I miss her so much.

blankI am a daughter. I was the oldest. Therefore, I was the one who broke all the rules and got into trouble. My sister was three years younger, but we were the best of friends. We had a wonderful childhood where our parents supported us and molded us into the women we turned out to be. My dad passed away in 2012 after a nine-year battle with lung cancer. Sadly, we also lost my sister in 2018 after an 18-month battle with cancer. My mom and I have been through some trying times together.  I admire her strength in dealing with the heartbreaking loss of her husband, daughter, father, and brother.

blankI am a stepmother to two young men who are navigating their college and career paths. They are kind-hearted, ambitious, and hard-working. I am an aunt to five nieces and nephews of which the two youngest are my sister’s children.  Although they were very young when my sister passed they are so strong, and being around them is inspiring. These seven young people remind me how exciting it is to have your whole life ahead of you. I can’t wait to see what they accomplish!

I am a Fitness Enthusiast. I have always worked out doing something whether it was playing a sport, taking Les Mills classes at Gold’s Gym, or doing Beachbody workouts. Then, I fell in love with CrossFit in October 2016 and proceeded to get my CrossFit Level 1 coaching certification. Not only has CrossFit made me stronger both mentally and physically but the culture of CrossFit has inspired me to push myself and train hard. It has taught me the role nutrition plays in not only fueling my body for the sport but eating healthy on a day-to-day basis.

blankI am a Travel Junkie. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania and as a family, we traveled to the same place. Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina.  After graduating college with my degree in education, I knew I had to leave that small town so, I packed up a U-haul, drove across the country to California for six months, and then landed in Virginia. After years in the education system, I felt the need for change. I enrolled in a program through Greenheart Travel and went off to Thailand to teach English. That trip inspired me to learn more about the world and all that our planet has to offer. My goal is to visit all 50 states, as many countries as possible, and make it to all seven continents.

blankI believe we can learn from and inspire each other. We need to give each other strength and support in the worst times and praise each other in the best times. Read more about my life’s journey which has made me strong in both mind and body. Follow me so we can live, laugh, love, learn, and even cry together as we share stories on this crazy ride we call life.
