This week, I decided to try to make my own almond butter. I found this recipe and tried it. It says it takes 25 minutes, but it took me quite a bit longer. One of the reasons why it took me so long was that I only had my tiny food processer rather than my regular one that is currently in Pennsylvania. Plus, it was my first time trying to make nut butter. I think it will get easier the more I try. Cashew butter is next.
Ingredients
- almonds (can substitute walnuts, cashews, or other nuts)
- vanilla extract (optional)
- maple syrup or honey (optional)
- salt (optional)
- cinnamon (optional)
Stacy’s Suggestions and Preparation
- Make sure you have a powerful food processor. (I had a tiny one so it took forever)
- I heated up the almonds in the oven as the recipe suggested.
- I processed for what seemed like forever! It does work 🙂
- Finally, it started getting creamy.
- I added a bit of vanilla, honey, cinnamon, and salt.
- I used half of the recipe to make Stuffed Dates.
- I put the rest of the almond butter into a small mason jar and put it in the refrigerator.
