  • 90 abs of your choice
  • 80 squats
  • 70 kettlebell swings
  • 60 lunges
  • 50 step-ups

How to Do the Moves

Here is your Weekly Wednesday Workout.

This is similar to the Long One. You can do that one and time yourself to see if you have gotten faster with your workout. I also found a fun Turkey Day Burner if you need other ideas. Have a wonderful Holiday and be safe. Make this workout work for you!

We lost my sister in May 2018 after an 18-month battle with cancer (as you read in “About Stacy“).  Her kids were five and two at the time, but they still talk about her all the time. They love looking at pictures of her and hearing stories about her. I wish I had more videos of her to show them. When we visit my family in Virginia, at least one night our niece and nephew usually spend the night with us at my mom’s house. It gives their dad some time to himself and gives us more time to spend with them. One night, I had the fun opportunity to give my niece and nephew a bath.

Though I remember taking baths as a child with my sister, I don’t believe I have ever given a baby a bath. I never had children of my own and my stepchildren are adults. So this was an amazing opportunity for me, and I felt blessed to be able to do it.

After playing outside all day, the kids needed a rinse. Though I figured the bathroom would be a sloppy mess by the time we were done, I didn’t care. They had no toys. Only each other, a cup to wash their hair, and me. They tried to pretend they were swimming. They poured water on each other. My nephew even peed in the water! We all had the best time laughing and giggling. It was so much fun giving them a bath!

My niece practiced holding her breath underwater. And my nephew didn’t mind water in his face either which is a huge step for both of them. Once they were washed and started getting more water on the floor than in the tub I told them it was time to get out. I dried them off and helped them into their pajamas.

We combed their hair, brushed their teeth, and then cuddled on the couch. Though it was a very simple evening, it was one that I will always remember. Their laughs and innocence make my heart so happy. I am so blessed to be able to spend time with them.

Although I am not their mother, I felt inspired that maybe for those 15 minutes I filled a void for them of having a young female presence doing something ordinary with them. My intention is never to replace their mother but to build memories with them as their aunt and as a young female role model.

My favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving is my mom’s homemade stuffing. Therefore, with her permission, I am sharing it, just in case any of you want to try it out next week. I think I love it so much because it was a rare treat that we only had at Thanksgiving or when she made her famous “Chicken Stuff”. Another amazing recipe I will have to share at some point 🙂 So from an email from my mom, here is her famous stuffing recipe.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small to medium onion
  • 1 piece of celery
  • 3-4 heaping teaspoons chicken bouillon ( I use a small spoon and granules. Watch what you buy)
  • 2 cups of milk (I don’t measure it, so not sure)
  • 1 big loaf of bread
  • Salt, pepper, garlic salt, celery salt, onion salt (maybe a 1/4 tsp each?)

Stacy’s Mom’s Suggestions and Preparation

  1. Melt butter in a small bowl in the microwave. I use my grinder to slice the onion and celery. Put onion and celery in melted butter and microwave for 3-5 minutes. Just until they’re soft. Dissolve chicken bouillon in the butter mixture. Add milk. Microwave for 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
  2. Toast bread. Tear into pieces in a large mixing bowl. Salt, pepper, celery salt, onion salt, and garlic salt to taste. You can probably use powder, but taste it and see if it needs more salt.
  3. Pour warm milk mixture over bread crumbs and mix. I add extra cold milk if needed. Taste it and add salt or other salts.
  4. Cook in a covered bowl for 30 minutes, then uncover and cook for 15 minutes. If you don’t have a  bowl with a cover, cover with aluminum foil.
  5. If you think you need a double batch, I would just make two batches instead of doubling and trying to make it all at once.
  6. If you cook the lizards and gizzards in water, put onion and celery in with it. Salt and pepper it and use that instead of all the milk.

Stacy’s Substitutions

As you read in, “Sub This for That“, we would use the following substitutes for the above recipe: Cabot grass-fed stick butter or avocado butter, almond milk, and bread with no high fructose corn syrup. You could try with wheat or gluten-free bread, but I am not sure how it would turn out. Although stuffing isn’t really how we normally eat sometimes you just have to have one of mom’s old recipes and enjoy it! If you are looking for a healthier option, here is a link. I am interested in trying the crockpot stuffing. Maybe next year!
